This work (performed as a standalone piece) serves as the third movement of the Piano Sonata No 1 in D minor Op. 32. The piece begins with a lyrical melody in G Major sustained with arpeggiated chordal motion in the bass. The piece then modulates to the sub-dominant C Major with development of secondary contrapuntal melodies added to the lyrical melody. The middle section modulates to A minor reflecting the stormy rhythm of the Sonata’s first movement before returning to the main themes initially in C Major concluding in G Major.

The piece was composed from 06 February 2015 through 27 August 2015 and was performed live at a house concert on June 12, 2016 by pianist Ken Hardin.
