The Five Elegiac Préludes Opp 11-15 were conceived as a set of préludes totally written in minor keys (no modulations to major keys) to reflect elegiac emotions (as emphasized by their subtitles).

The Prélude in B minor consists of a melody based on neighboring tones with a single voice counterpoint in the bass. “Lacrymosa” derived from the Latin word “lacrimosus” means tears and reflects a descending chord arpeggio in a secondary theme written in the subdominant key of E minor.

The Prélude in B minor received its first public performance, with the composer at keyboard, at the American Slovene Educational Foundation Annual Banquet in January, 2016 in San Francisco, California.

This prélude was composed from 09 December 2011 through 27 February 2012.
